Today I discovered some of the consequences of gravity.

No, not the film.

The fuel light came on my car some time ago. This is bad.

I discovered that if I parked across a slope so that the right side of the car was lower than the left gravity would cause fuel to accumulate on the right hand side of the tank where the float is and so the low fuel light went off. This is good.

I further discovered that when fuel accumulates on the right hand side it does the opposite on the left hand side where the fuel pick up is. This is bad, because then your car doesn’t start.

I finally discovered that gravity can also be used to let your car roll to a position where it is no longer parked right hand side down and it’ll now start. This is good.

ours is the same, park with the left slightly higher than the right and it wont start lol

Do you have a Merlin engine in that thing? Sounds like you should look into Miss Shilling’s orifice .

one of my most memorable physics lessons was realized as I soared over my handlebars.

Unintended Endos suck. I mangled a wheel (and my nose) doing that one.

So we’re just done with ‘phrasing’, right? That’s not a thing anymore?

Physics ruined my hope of human flight like superman.

I once worked for a company that barely kept enough fuel in the work trucks . It was always fun to send pictures like this to the fleet manager. This one (2004 Express) could usually make it another 30 miles after the light came on.

Kinja'd!!!

As for my car- I have no idea, and I refuse to find out.

Sadly, no. Fuel injection which rendered Tilly and her orifice superfluous doesn’t unfortunately help on this occasion.

But it comes with a free frogert!

That’s good.

The frogert is also cursed.

That’s bad.

But it comes with a free topping!

That’s good!

The topping containers polysorbates

...

That’s bad.

Can I go now?

Yeah, well, that was the joke. I’m sure the chaps back in WWII had a good laugh over that. It was also called “Miss Tilly’s diaphragm,” but “look into the orifice” was a better joke.

Also, I have never questioned your age....

When I was in high school and I couldn’t afford to buy a replacement alternator, I would park my 142 at a high point in the parking lot so that push-starting was easier. Amazingly, even without the benefit of gravity, I could still push-start the car with no help on a level surface.

I was pretty lucky, I managed to land in some soft grass. It inspired me to start wearing a helmet. It could have been much worse like a cracked skull instead of a mild concision

I wouldn’t say I’m not a fan, I’ve just never watched. I might have to start.

It’s childish, hilarious and full of awesome vehicles (Adam Reed is a Jalop at heart and it shows in the selection and art of the vehicles he puts in the show)
